After a whole day I finally was able to stream videos to N800 through VLC (videolan). The problem was not at my VLC command line but in fact, it was at N800’s Video Player (that one that comes pre-installed). That player does not support any “usable” formats and it was really difficult to find a configuration of VLC to work on it (actually I couldn’t find it…).
So, I installed Mplayer on N800 (http://mplayer.garage.maemo.org/) and found the best configuration for VLC. So, for you guys that want to stream video to N800, here is the line…any update, please, post a comment…
- #transcode{vcodec=mp1v,vb=384,fps=25.0,scale=0.5,acodec=mpga,
ab=64,channels=1}:duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=mpeg1,
dst=:8080}}
hi!
To tune your stream on mplayer you just have to put this in the input box:
Just it! =) (assuming you used the line above for vlc)
Have you tried using VLC to stream video *from* the N800 to a server that then redistributes it live on the web? Do you know of anyone who has tried this?
hi,
I didnt try to run vlc inside N800..but based on my studies regarding gmyth-streamer just _stream_ a video would not be hard to implement.
If you want more info on this, send me an email! =)
regards,
Is gmyth-streamer capable of both sending out and receiving a stream? Thanks.
I sent an e-mail to what I think is your Gmail account. Is gmyth-streamer capable of both sending out and receiving a stream? Thanks.
I’ve found mp4, with either no or mp3 audio and asf container seems to work really well streaming to mplayer, but it doesn’t work for all videos.
I have yet to find a video that won’t play using your settings. Thanks for the tip! Now I just need a php frontend to launch vlc so I can choose videos to play from the n800
